Hypnosis in Childbirth
Childbirth and hypnosis, when combined are often called hypnobirth, enables you to experience the birth of your baby in an easier and much more comfortable manner. Working with your body and the sensations of labour rather than fight against it retaining a sense of control throughout the childbirth experience.
You will be able to trust your natural instincts on a deep subconscious level enabling you to experience the birth of your baby in a confident way.
Severe pain does not have to be an accompaniment to labour in childbirth. Hypnosis enables you to relax during contractions instead of tensing up and causing discomfort by fighting against the contractions.
Hypnosis doesn't mean you'll be in a trance or asleep.
You will be able to chat, be in good spirits, relaxed and fully in control. You'll be totally aware of what is happening to you and around you.
The Benefits:
Safer and more effective: Hypnosis produces calmness and relaxation, physically and mentally and therefore reduces pain, fluctuating blood pressure, anxiety, stress and nausea.
Reduces labour time: Hypnosis can reduce the first stage of labour by approximately 2 hours in the multip and possibly between 3-4 hours in the primip.
Less analgesic drug therapy required (if any): Hypnosis techniques significantly reduce pain during delivery.
Episiotomy: Due to relaxation in the final stages of labour there is very little tearing since no hard anxious pushing has been applied during childbirth.
A less stressed baby: Babies have been shown to cry less, sleep and feed better and are generally calmer, possibly due to diminished trauma at birth.
A less exhausted mother after childbirth: Most women feel less mentally and physically exhausted and even look fit and well afterwards. They remain quite calm and relaxed.
A calm, peaceful birthing experience: With more control over your mind and body, you can participate in the natural childbirth process and are able to both enjoy and experience the birth of your child. The new mum will be calmer and happier after giving birth and there may also be a reduced possibility of post-natal depression. |
